I am using the maven-docker-plugin and i have 2 Private registries. 1 for Releases and 1 for Snapshot. So how could i influence the url for the Image to be pushed to by using the -SNAPSHOT identifier?

Tue Jan 24 19:09:47 2017  PiRho31416:${project.version}' | /home/jenkins-ci/apps/apache-maven-3.3.3/bin/mvn help:evaluate | grep -v '^[[]'
Tue Jan 24 19:10:02 2017  PiRho31416:${project.version}' | mvn help:evaluate | grep -v '^[[]'

Tue Jan 24 19:15:25 2017  tang^:PiRho31416: since you're running this in #jenkins, they might be able to offer other solutions as well

Tue Jan 24 19:19:00 2017  hamta:hi guys! i'm interested in your setup when it comes to feature branches with SNAPSHOT versions. do you use isolated maven repositories for this scenario?
Tue Jan 24 19:22:02 2017  lithium:Joined the channel
Tue Jan 24 19:22:08 2017  PiRho31416:@hamta, do you mean separate repositories per each feature? Or per each project/group? For us, we have different groups having their own maven repositories. They have a snapshot repository as well as a release repository.

Tue Jan 24 19:25:04 2017  paddyez:hi
Tue Jan 24 19:25:08 2017  hamta:PiRho31416: we want to be able to work independently on SNAPSHOTs and when one individual's work is completed they'll push their feature branch to GitHub Enterprise where it will trigger a build.
Tue Jan 24 19:25:50 2017  hamta:but because SNAPSHOT versions are not reliable because they might change every now and then, everybody will "interfere" with the rest of the team
Tue Jan 24 19:26:10 2017  paddyez:does anybody know about this? "Exception in thread "main" com.google.common.util.concurrent.ExecutionError: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.google.inject.internal.cglib.core.$ReflectUtils"
Tue Jan 24 19:26:10 2017  tang^:keep the snapshots local to the dev?
Tue Jan 24 19:27:23 2017  hamta:tang^: you're right. that would really be the easiest thing but the problem is that we have people maintaining the frontend which we wrap in a client.jar and people maintaining the Java backend. so you need to keep those in sync
Tue Jan 24 19:27:47 2017  tang^:so you do need to deploy your snapshots
Tue Jan 24 19:27:55 2017  hamta:yes
Tue Jan 24 19:28:11 2017  andjarnic:Joined the channel
Tue Jan 24 19:28:45 2017  hamta:another alternative would be that everybody uses their own minor version number or patch level in the version. but it requires a lot of communication and changing POM files.
Tue Jan 24 19:28:56 2017  PiRho31416:hamta: I would imagine there's an agreed upon development that is merge requested in. That would be what is deployed into the development servers.
Tue Jan 24 19:29:16 2017  andjarnic:Hello fellow mavenites. I am hoping one of you experts might know the answer to an odd issue I am facing. I have a project that built just fine for a while, but now it is complaining of a dependency of a dependency.. e.g. in particular it is complaining it cant find org.json:json:jar:1.1.1
Tue Jan 24 19:29:19 2017  PiRho31416:Everybody's feature branch would be hosted locally on their machine.
Tue Jan 24 19:29:28 2017  andjarnic:I have tried adding mvnrepository, maven2, mavencentral, etc..
Tue Jan 24 19:29:58 2017  andjarnic:keeps on with the usual run it with -U. Wiping out the .m2 directory, etc does not fix it
Tue Jan 24 19:30:09 2017  andjarnic:and oddly enough.. I have another project that from a clean build, works just fine. No issue
Tue Jan 24 19:30:20 2017  andjarnic:same initial dependency (RAML2JAXRS).
Tue Jan 24 19:31:31 2017  andjarnic:I even tried downloading the jar directly and putting it in the .m2 directory in the right path, and that still doesnt fix it
Tue Jan 24 19:31:58 2017  PiRho31416:@andjarnic: I don't see a org.json:json:jar:1.1.1. I see a JSON.simple 1.1.1 from Google.
Tue Jan 24 19:31:59 2017  andjarnic:all I get is a .jar.lastUpdated and .pom.lastUpdated in the 1.1.1 folder
Tue Jan 24 19:32:15 2017  hamta:PiRho31416: but how does the backend team share their artifacts with the backend team then?
Tue Jan 24 19:32:25 2017  andjarnic:Yah.. same here.. and in the maven2 repo it doesnt even have a 1.1.1 folder, it has some date value folders
Tue Jan 24 19:33:29 2017  PiRho31416:hamta: You can use people's username or first name in the snapshot version number.

Tue Jan 24 19:34:02 2017  PiRho31416:hamta: MyApplication-SNAPSHOT-PiRho31416-1.1.0.jar
Tue Jan 24 19:34:26 2017  hamta:PiRho31416, ah, i understand. we tried that
Tue Jan 24 19:34:30 2017  andjarnic:the real kick in the pants is this.. I have two projects as I said. In IntelliJ, when I open the dependency list, in the one project that the problem dependency is a sub dependency of, it shows json:1.1.1. But in my other project, which uses the identical maven dependency in the pom, the dependency tree shows org:json:json:20140107
Tue Jan 24 19:34:38 2017  andjarnic:which IS found in the maven directory
Tue Jan 24 19:34:57 2017  PiRho31416:Hamta: what was the problem with that?
Tue Jan 24 19:34:59 2017  hamta:the "problem" with this approach is that the person that's responsible for the final merge to the master branch will have to edit versions.
Tue Jan 24 19:35:09 2017  andjarnic:so how does my dependency on the SAME thing show two different child dependencies?
Tue Jan 24 19:35:17 2017  PiRho31416:hamta: That is done all the time in open source. I don't see a problem with that.
Tue Jan 24 19:36:07 2017  PiRho31416:anjarnic: I don't see the dependency anywhere. Maybe they just made up the XML? If you have the JAR the person is using, maybe do a search using the SHA?
Tue Jan 24 19:36:17 2017  tang^:andjarnic: what version of raml2jaxrs?
Tue Jan 24 19:36:30 2017  hamta:PiRho31416: another problem is that you cannot work with version ranges anymore because the qualifier at the end is compared alphabetically
Tue Jan 24 19:36:50 2017  andjarnic:1.3.4
Tue Jan 24 19:37:05 2017  andjarnic:I went back to 1.3.3 and that fixed it but changes my code.. which I dont want to do
Tue Jan 24 19:37:19 2017  andjarnic:however another dependency also uses the org:json:json:1.1.1 in it
Tue Jan 24 19:37:26 2017  andjarnic:so now I want to understand how to fix this issue
Tue Jan 24 19:38:03 2017  andjarnic:its almost as if I have to force the dependency process to grab the latest sub dependency.. but I assumed if I depend on <someproject> that I can NOT alter the internal pom dependencies it has set up.
Tue Jan 24 19:38:35 2017  andjarnic:This is the message I get:
Tue Jan 24 19:38:36 2017  andjarnic:Failure to find org.json:json:jar:1.1.1 in http://www.mvnrepository.com was cached in the local repository, resolution will not be reattempted until the update interval of mvnrepository has elapsed or updates are forced
Tue Jan 24 19:38:47 2017  andjarnic:I have tried other repositories as well
Tue Jan 24 19:39:09 2017  andjarnic:is it some date/time issue on my system maybe?
Tue Jan 24 19:39:10 2017  tang^:from what I see here, org.json:json has never had a version labeled 1.1.1
Tue Jan 24 19:39:42 2017  tang^:what's the full artifact id for your raml2jaxrs?
Tue Jan 24 19:39:43 2017  andjarnic:but the raml2jaxrs pom indicates that version in its pom
Tue Jan 24 19:43:29 2017  paddyez:*hmm*
Tue Jan 24 19:43:57 2017  tang^:because I'm having trouble actually finding a raml2jaxrs pom
Tue Jan 24 19:44:07 2017  andjarnic:Yah.. there is a github project
Tue Jan 24 19:44:24 2017  andjarnic:https://github.com/mulesoft/raml-for-jax-rs/tree/master/raml-to-jaxrs
Tue Jan 24 19:44:48 2017  tang^:okay, I am in the right place
Tue Jan 24 19:45:00 2017  tang^:where did you find the pom?
Tue Jan 24 19:45:01 2017  andjarnic:What is baffling to me is I have a separate project, same machine.. and EXACT same dependency to ramljaxrs
Tue Jan 24 19:45:04 2017  andjarnic:and IT builds
Tue Jan 24 19:45:13 2017  tang^:none of the ones I've seen so far even mention org.json
Tue Jan 24 19:45:17 2017  andjarnic:I havent found the one that includes those dependencies
Tue Jan 24 19:45:24 2017  andjarnic:but in the mvn:dependency it lists it
Tue Jan 24 19:45:32 2017  andjarnic:looks like a dependency on google android
Tue Jan 24 19:45:34 2017  andjarnic:for some reason
Tue Jan 24 19:45:55 2017  tang^:then maybe it's a dependency of google android
Tue Jan 24 19:46:27 2017  andjarnic:https://github.com/mulesoft/raml-for-jax-rs/blob/master/raml-to-jaxrs/core/pom.xml
Tue Jan 24 19:46:40 2017  andjarnic:sorry.. the json is a child of jsonschema2pojo
Tue Jan 24 19:47:18 2017  andjarnic:oddly enough I also get one for javax.validation:1.0.0 GA now
Tue Jan 24 19:49:25 2017  andjarnic:if you look at maven repo
Tue Jan 24 19:49:25 2017  andjarnic:https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/com.google.android/android/4.1.1.4
Tue Jan 24 19:49:33 2017  andjarnic:for android:4.1.1.4
Tue Jan 24 19:49:36 2017  andjarnic:it shows that it depends on:
Tue Jan 24 19:49:54 2017  andjarnic:20080701
Tue Jan 24 19:49:56 2017  andjarnic:json
Tue Jan 24 19:50:08 2017  andjarnic:so why is it in my ide/dependency tree it is telling me 1.1.1?
Tue Jan 24 19:50:29 2017  tang^:sounds like you have something broken in there
Tue Jan 24 19:50:39 2017  andjarnic:but how?
Tue Jan 24 19:50:43 2017  andjarnic:is there some cache thing I dont know about
Tue Jan 24 19:50:51 2017  andjarnic:some other location mvn pulls from besides my local .m2?
Tue Jan 24 19:51:06 2017  tang^:mvn dependency:tree with debug?
Tue Jan 24 19:51:20 2017  andjarnic:shows the same thing
Tue Jan 24 19:51:24 2017  andjarnic:actually
Tue Jan 24 19:51:27 2017  andjarnic:it doesnt complete
Tue Jan 24 19:51:32 2017  andjarnic:because the json:1.1.1 cant be found
Tue Jan 24 19:52:36 2017  tang^:sounds like you have a dependency somewhere in your project that is breaking everything else dependent on valid json versions
Tue Jan 24 19:52:50 2017  andjarnic:so when the error says failure to find it was cached in local repository.. resolution will not be attempted.. blah blah
Tue Jan 24 19:52:53 2017  andjarnic:what to do?
Tue Jan 24 19:53:08 2017  andjarnic:is there some what to uncache?
Tue Jan 24 19:53:12 2017  andjarnic:I have wiped out .m2
Tue Jan 24 19:53:26 2017  tang^:you need to review all of your pom.xml dependencies
Tue Jan 24 19:53:44 2017  andjarnic:I have been.. but like I said the same thing works in a different project
Tue Jan 24 19:53:50 2017  andjarnic:exactly same version, etc
Tue Jan 24 19:53:59 2017  tang^:all dependencies are identical between projects?
Tue Jan 24 19:54:04 2017  andjarnic:yup
Tue Jan 24 19:54:08 2017  andjarnic:e.g. the one for raml2jaxrs
Tue Jan 24 19:54:12 2017  andjarnic:same version, etc
Tue Jan 24 19:54:19 2017  tang^:absolutely, side-by-side comparison of your pom.xml files?
Tue Jan 24 19:54:21 2017  andjarnic:and that one shows hte updated 2014... version in the tree
Tue Jan 24 19:54:37 2017  andjarnic:no..different projects.. so they depend on some different things
Tue Jan 24 19:54:44 2017  tang^:exactly
Tue Jan 24 19:54:48 2017  andjarnic:just referring to the dependency on the raml2jaxrs
Tue Jan 24 19:54:59 2017  andjarnic:ok ok..I think I get it.
Tue Jan 24 19:55:07 2017  andjarnic:something else is using json:1.1.1 before raml2jaxrs..
Tue Jan 24 19:55:09 2017  tang^:yes
Tue Jan 24 19:55:11 2017  andjarnic:so raml2jaxrs resolves to 1.1.1
Tue Jan 24 19:55:22 2017  andjarnic:and doesnt even bother with the later version that is found in its own dependency tree?
Tue Jan 24 19:55:34 2017  andjarnic:is there some way to ignore local cache and use only what is in the pom?
Tue Jan 24 19:55:47 2017  tang^:I don't think local cache is the problem
Tue Jan 24 19:55:53 2017  tang^:I think the pom is the problem
Tue Jan 24 19:56:15 2017  andjarnic:I would agree.. but no other dependency on json:1.1.1 is found in any of my poms
Tue Jan 24 19:56:26 2017  andjarnic:and if I build just the one project (not all modules)
Tue Jan 24 19:56:31 2017  andjarnic:it should succeed I take it?
Tue Jan 24 19:56:39 2017  tang^:and all of the poms you are currently depending on?
Tue Jan 24 19:56:48 2017  Lordz:Left the channel
Tue Jan 24 19:57:08 2017  tang^:if you want, just look at the dependencies that are different from your other, working project
Tue Jan 24 19:57:34 2017  andjarnic:Yah.. thats a good call.. just cant get dependency to show up due to it not finding 1.1.1 and not completing the tree

Tue Jan 24 21:55:08 2017  paddyez:does anybody know about this? "Exception in thread "main" com.google.common.util.concurrent.ExecutionError: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.google.inject.internal.cglib.core.$ReflectUtils"
Tue Jan 24 21:56:24 2017  paddyez:do you need further output in pastebin?
Tue Jan 24 21:56:29 2017  PiRho31416:paddyez, try adding the following to your pom:
Tue Jan 24 21:56:30 2017  PiRho31416:<dependency><groupId>com.google.inject</groupId><artifactId>guice</artifactId><version>3.0</version></dependency>
Tue Jan 24 21:57:01 2017  PiRho31416:Whoops. That's an old version. Here's the new one:
Tue Jan 24 21:57:02 2017  PiRho31416:<dependency><groupId>com.google.inject</groupId><artifactId>guice</artifactId><version>4.1.0</version></dependency>
Tue Jan 24 21:59:31 2017  paddyez:where does this go in the pom? in the <project>?
Tue Jan 24 21:59:43 2017  PiRho31416:No. Inside of the <dependencies>
Tue Jan 24 22:00:07 2017  PiRho31416:Well, yes, inside of <project> but more specifically inside of <dependencies>
Tue Jan 24 22:01:55 2017  paddyez:same result
Tue Jan 24 22:03:24 2017  paddyez:deleted .m2 folder and it has not been recreated :-/
Tue Jan 24 22:03:50 2017  paddyez:looked here https://maven.apache.org/guides/introduction/introduction-to-dependency-mechanism.html
Tue Jan 24 22:17:55 2017  paddyez:maven was such a nice tool
Tue Jan 24 22:19:38 2017  PiRho31416:What maven goals do you have set?
Tue Jan 24 22:19:46 2017  PiRho31416:Did you try "mvn dependency:analyze"
Tue Jan 24 22:21:09 2017  paddyez:"mvn dependency:analyze" ← same error
Tue Jan 24 22:22:23 2017  paddyez:should I post the whole error msg on pastebin?

Tue Jan 24 22:28:06 2017  splatch:when I started digging for reason why I got unexpected behavior I found it could be low level stuff
Tue Jan 24 22:28:25 2017  splatch:in sisu/plexus or core with extension initialization order or position in plexus lookups
Tue Jan 24 22:29:23 2017  splatch:@paddyez чест :)

Tue Jan 24 22:44:07 2017  rfscholte:regarding plexus-test-container, that's how I expect it to work: no hint means default implementation (or "default" as hint).
Tue Jan 24 22:45:41 2017  splatch:ok, this is fine, but it is same case till some degree, can some prioiroties be used? Sisu spiecifies @Priority annotation on its own but doesn't seem to work
Tue Jan 24 22:46:31 2017  rfscholte:I've never seen it in the Maven codebase
Tue Jan 24 22:50:22 2017  rfscholte:best documentation: google for "sonatype blog plexus guice", you'll find 3 blogs
Tue Jan 24 22:57:00 2017  splatch:worth nothing these days
Tue Jan 24 22:57:46 2017  splatch:@rfscholte these blog posts describe stuff before sisu become eclipse project and died
Tue Jan 24 22:59:53 2017  rfscholte:so there's no documentation
Tue Jan 24 23:00:27 2017  splatch:sisu docs on eclipse are even worse, showing binder and injector and that's it. 5 minute guide which doesn't differ from any other guice introduction
Tue Jan 24 23:01:11 2017  splatch:I don't know how to find reason why it behaves as it behaves on 400 frame long stack trace
Tue Jan 24 23:05:07 2017  splatch:what I observed is quite simple, maven-aether-provider gets initialized first to lookup extensions, because it is needed earlier, then there is extension initialization, where my custom resolver gets included. After quite long invocation chain it gets called for transient dependencies. So it seems like caching issue in first place, but can be also something
